New Leaf’s annual Health and Safety Day is a cherished tradition held every June from 10 am to 2 pm. The day features a BBQ lunch enjoyed by everyone, alongside special guests from the York Region Police, Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, and Public Health. This event allows individuals supported by New Leaf and staff to engage directly with these community representatives, asking questions and taking photos together.
The primary aim of Health and Safety Day is to combine enjoyment with education, raising awareness about health and safety practices while fostering a secure environment at New Leaf.
In preparation for the event, individuals supported by New Leaf participate in a poster contest, showcasing their perspectives on important health and safety issues. These posters are displayed and judged on the day of the event, with the winning entry receiving a special prize.
