The importance of truth

Truth and Reconciliation Day, September 30, 2024

On September 30th we had the opportunity to attend a moving flag raising ceremony in East Gwillimbury. The event was a meaningful gathering that honored the experiences of Indigenous communities, particularly recognizing the injustices faced by residential school survivors. Through speeches, music, and traditional rituals, we were reminded of the importance of truth, healing, and fostering respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

The ceremony offered a reflective space for all of us to learn, listen, and commit to a future that supports reconciliation and understanding. It was a powerful and enlightening experience for our group.
