STAFF PROFILE

Prior to coming to New Leaf, I worked as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) however I wanted to develop myself further so that I could give more. After attending Sheridan College I worked as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at a nursing home until 2017. This was a great experience however I felt that I wanted to give more of myself day to day.

I first attended Yorkdale Adult Learning and accomplished becoming a PSW.I wanted to improve my knowledge and felt I had more to give so I attended Sheridan Collage in 2010 and graduated with as an RPN.

I have a daughter with special needs and being able to give of myself to others I directly give back to her.  She has been a significant motivation for all that I do.

Amen

4 Things that Motivate Me

  1. Being able to give back to others every day.
  2. Having opportunities to learn and build on skills I have for example: becoming a better advocate and how to more effectively understand the supported people with a dual diagnosis
  3. Positive relationships I have built with supported people, my manager and directors. I am an accepted individual and part of a larger team.
  4. I am motivated by being able to have a positive impact on the quality of life of those I support.

Position: Supervisor

Status: Full-time

Years at NL: 2 years

Personality: I love to bring laughter to every environment I am in. It really benefits the people I support. I am flexible and adaptable. This I learnt from my upbringing as I left home at an early age, and I had to be self-reliant and make my own way. I have a lot of patience with all the people I meet.

Why I love working at New Leaf

I love that supported individuals are happy to see me each day and that I can make a positive contribution to their day. It confirms for me that I am doing something important and meaningful for them.
